Our Story

Palliative Care defines as follows:

“Palliative Care is the physical, psychological, social and spiritual care provided by a multi-disciplinary team of experts to anyone with a life-threatening illness and their loved ones. Care is offered from the point of diagnosis and extends to bereavement support if needed. Over 90% of the care that Camdeboo Hospice provide is home-based with a focus on promoting quality of life.”

In the semi-rural areas of the Karoo, access to healthcare is limited. Ambulances are scarce, distances are vast, and families often face illness alone.

This is the gap that Camdeboo Hospice fills.

Through regular home visits, families are supported, educated, and empowered — restoring dignity, comfort, and hope where it is needed most.

As the above Logo depicts, palliative care can and should be provided alongside curative treatments for life-threatening illnesses, ideally from the point of diagnosis.
